Downtown Roanoke pop-up event to be hosted by Mental Health in Motion
Roanoke, Virginia – Mental health awareness and the performing arts will come together this weekend in Roanoke.
For its final and largest downtown pop-up of the season, the Mental Health in Motion Dance Company has teamed up with Hustle/Haven.
The special event will take place on Saturday, July 24 at 7:00 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. The evening will feature a collaborative performance of live music, dance, and aerial silks by more than ten local artists.
Mental Health in Motion, Haus of Schmitt, Cirqulation Aerial Arts, Jayna Brown, Macklyn Mosely, Taye the Truth and Dylan Dent are some of the performers.
“If you put a visual to it (mental health), something with a dance story, people are actually able to see something that’s largely invisible which is really cool because then people are able to drop that head knowledge into a heart knowledge; gaining more empathy, more awareness and just gaining a more holistic educational experience,” said Lisa Linger, director of Mental Health in Motion.
Tickets cost $15 including one drink and can be purchased online here. At the event, more drink tickets can be purchased.
