Virginia Tech football player faces murder charges
Blacksburg, Virginia – Blacksburg police have arrested Virginia Tech football player.
Isimemen Etute is detained at Montgomery County jail and faces multiple charges like: second-degree murder, speeding and failing to stop.
On the night of June 1, police were dispatched to 119 N. Main Street for a welfare check and found a man dead. The death was declared a murder by investigators. The victim was identified as a 40-year-old Jerry Smith from Blacksburg. The reason of the death has not been released.
Etute was arrested in connection to the murder of Jerry Smith and is scheduled to appear in Montgomery County General District Court on Thursday.
Etute is suspended from the university and the football team.
