The National Gridiron League has suspended game-play, effective immediately, as the league continues to assess the impact of COVID-19.
At the appropriate time, the league and clubs will communicate plans for the 2020 season and update the status of league events.
“Board Members were united this evening in the decision to temporarily delay our season – based on the advice and guidance from public health authorities, and in the best interest of our fans, players, and coaches,” said NGL CEO & Chairman Joe McClendon III. “We are hopeful to begin to play in early May but will reassess as additional information becomes available. We encourage everyone to follow health official recommendations and be safe during this challenging time.”
The NGL announcement comes in the wake of the NBA, NHL, MLS, and XFL suspending their seasons within the last 36 hours.
Before the postponement of the NGL season, the league had set kickoff weekend for April 18th.
