Northwest Texas school districts pass billion-dollar bond proposals
Fort Worth, Texas – A Dallas news outlet, Dallas Metro News, reported that Crowley and Northwest school districts are set to receive new schools and campus upgrades as voters have approved significant bond proposals. Northwest ISD voters authorized a $2 billion bond proposal, while Crowley ISD voters passed two propositions totaling over $1 billion but narrowly rejected a $128.8 million performing arts center proposal, according to unofficial results.
Prop A, the primary component of the Crowley ISD bond, is valued at over $948.2 million and will fund the construction of eight new schools. This proposition received 53.39% of the votes in favor and 46.61% against. Prop B, a $95.4 million proposition, calls for the creation of an inclusive outdoor learning center and track and field complex. With 52.23% of the votes in favor and 47.77% against, Prop B was approved, bringing Crowley ISD’s total bond to more than $1.2 billion.
Northwest ISD voters overwhelmingly supported Prop A and Prop C, which call for the construction of 12 new schools and additional campus improvements worth $1.6 billion, as well as $21.7 million for purchasing new equipment for students and teachers. Both measures garnered more than 60% of the votes. Prop B of Northwest ISD, worth $301.5 million, calls for new stadiums at three high schools and renovations at two other athletic facilities. This proposition faced a closer vote, with 52.22% in favor and 47.78% against.
Several school board elections in the Fort Worth area were also held, with incumbents and newcomers alike earning trustee positions in various districts.
