The Angel Tree program achieved its goal, volunteers for distribution needed
Roanoke, Virginia – The Angel Tree program has been sponsored by the Salvation Army Roanoke Corps for 41 years, and it began this year in October.
Each year, with the assistance of the public, the organization is able to provide Christmas presents for over 1,000 children in need. The organization, however, requested assistance this week as the deadline loomed and roughly 200 children still had not been adopted.
On Friday afternoon, the Salvation Army Roanoke Corps achieved its objective thanks to the devotion of the community.
“Knowing that children are able to see Christmas presents under the tree on Christmas morning, that’s the greatest gift I can receive. But what’s even better, is knowing the community has provided that for them, and for those families, that were in need, and hurting and struggling,” Captain Jamie Clay said.
Despite the fact that the Angel Tree target has been achieved, the organization is still in need of volunteers to assist in the distribution of the presents. The organization is looking for 100 people to assist with distribution.
