1 dead, 1 wanted following Halifax County shooting
HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. — One person is dead following a shooting in Halifax County on Friday night.
One Friday around 10:52 p.m., Halifax County deputies and Virginia State Police responded to a call at a residence on Harmony Road of a possible shooting. On arriving at the scene, deputies found a male subject lying in the driveway with an apparent gunshot wound.
Cluster Springs Fire and Rescue and Halifax County Rescue Squad personnel responded to assist the victim, however, the victim succumbed to his injuries. The deceased was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke.
An arrest warrant for second-degree murder has been issued for 48-year-old Jeffrey Franklin Davis of Bold Springs Road.
Anyone with information or last known whereabouts of Davis is asked to contact the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office at 434-476-3334. The incident is still under investigation and more charges are pending.
