Roanoke City Council continues to consider plastic bags tax
ROANOKE, Va. – Roanoke City Council continues to discuss a proposed five-cent tax on plastic bags.
On Monday, April 19, the city council discussed the matter during a virtual public hearing.
Money raised from the tax could be used for environmental clean up and waste education programs.
It would also go towards giving reusable bags to low income residents.
If passed, it would go into effect in January 2022.
